Description
Cold infusion fluids and blood components can further reduce a patient’s body temperature at a time when the body’s ability to maintain normal thermoregulation may already be impaired by trauma, massive haemorrhage, or shock. In severe trauma, hypothermia is more than a matter of discomfort — a falling body temperature can adversely affect blood coagulation and complicate patient stabilisation.
A portable infusion fluid and blood component warming system allows fluids to be warmed in a controlled manner before they enter the patient’s circulation, helping reduce the risk of additional heat loss.
This solution is particularly relevant when treating patients with massive haemorrhage, as well as during care in remote locations, medical evacuation, or prolonged field care where a significant amount of time may pass before definitive treatment in a medical facility is available.
The compact and mobile system enables fluid warming to be used not only in hospital environments but also in settings where medical personnel must operate with limited resources and under challenging environmental conditions.
